Kiwifruitz Konnection: We’re in production for 2020

Welcome to my third update of Kiwifruitz Konnection. In this issue, I’d like to start by reinforcing that Kiwifruitz continues to operate safely under New Zealand’s strict COVID-19 environment. Despite challenging times, we are in production for 2020 and the outlook remains good.

Logistics in good order

As we are now underway, our logistics and freight routers are importantly all in good order and continue to operate, which allow products to get to site and to markets like yours.

155 million trays of Green and Gold

Looking at the current kiwifruit harvest, the main pack of fruit is now well underway. Plus, staffing levels in both picking and packing remain very good. The great news is,  Zespri remains on target for a record crop of 155 million trays of Green and Gold kiwifruit.

Kiwifruitz production on track

Our cool stores are near ¾ full. This is on schedule, as we will continue to receive fruit from the main pack well into late June this year. Production was delayed by just one week as we finished conditioning the new fruit. This isn’t unusual – it’s standard practice to ensure we have premium fruit ripeness and all QA (Quality Assurance) testing completed by then to give you the best possible product. In further good news, our seed remains on track for extraction mid-to-late May.

P.S. As a reminder, our main package for puree is 20kg cartons, with special runs available in 190kg drums. We also offer 500-gram to 2kg pouches. Our seed is supplied in 10kg cartons or in 125kg composite cardboard drums.
